At Studio Lumen, we’re focused on our Clients and a shared vision of great architecture. For every project our goal is to bring a lighting approach that is as unique as each of our Clients.
Architecture is primarily a visual experience. It relies upon light to communicate its form, space, texture, and color. Studio Lumen brings light to the materials list and lighting to the design meetings. In our design, we first clarify, then realize a shared vision through light.
We believe that collaborative working relationships are the most productive and rewarding. This approach demands that we ask good questions, listen, and respond. This dialogue is critical to the success of each project. Our process assures that each and every aspect of the lighting system is explored and the best system is designed for each situation.

As well as founding Studio Lumen in 2003, Richard has led lighting design teams for engineering and contracting enterprises as well as lighting design firms in Europe and the United States, and consequently brings a wealth of design and constructability experience and expertise to his projects.
Scott Kuyper
Associate Principal
As a senior lighting designer with over 20 years of experience working on a wide array of project types, Scott provides full-service lighting, daylighting, and lighting control design bringing a dynamic awareness and sensitivity to every project on which he embarks. He is a NCARB registered architect as well as an associate member of the International Association of Lighting Designers.
